School holidays Mt Barney. We stayed at Flanaghans, a bush camping site on the river in the shadow of Mt Maroon. First time in the new camper and Koda and I missed swimming in the river and look forward to it being warmer next time.
Flanagan Reserve has 12 hectares of camping on the Logan River at Mt Barney which is a World Heritage National Park. It is less than 2 hours drive from Brisbane and the Gold Coast via Rathdowney. It has old fashioned bush camping with fires allowed and firewood available. My grandson learnt to split wood and make a fire, and keep it going while we were there. There is a lot of wildlife including a one-legged bird who hopped around our campsite. It is low cost camping in a natural setting with swimming in summer and lots of children.
